I will miss this desk, and @bandanashah @bongoshontan.in and @idrunkenchef so much it's not even funny. thanks to you guys, now i sub myself while i speak. what a whirlwind of a month.

I usually don't brag about things, but she is going to be an exception here. My sister was a teenager when she decided to be a doctor. But life had other plans. She couldn't get through medical, hence she opted for engineering. She hated it. Flash forward four years, she graduated top of her class, got an offer letter from a uni in NY and moved there. but that wasn't it. she tackled consistent racism and sexism from her bosses and colleagues, after which she moved to the University of California for her PhD. seven years in the US, and now she's almost on the verge of creating a medicine to stop the progress Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, before which she also devised potential nanomedicines for tumor cells of oesophagial cancer, and techniques for the imaging of brain cancer. NASA too. yes ladies and gentlemen, my very own sister is a brown woman in STEM in Trump's US and she's kicking serious ass and smashing the patriarchy in the science world (curing cancer, Alzheimer's AND Parkinson's almost literally). And before you think she has no life outside her lab- she also bought a car all on her own, and on weekends, she road trips around the wild wild West. yesterday, I saw all the women on my social media celebrating International Working Women's Day in their own special ways, and here in these pictures, is my celebration of this day. I celebrated the sheer heroism of my sister. she is and forever will be my favorite, my most revered feminist idol because she showed me how the world can be against you in every possible way and you can still win over it. I love you Jittab and one day I hope to even come close to how powerful you are. and to Ma, my hero forever, who raised my sister and me to be the people who we are now- I hope I do your legacy justice, I hope I can continuously persevere against adversities and not break apart, just like you. pictured here: my sister conducting lab experiments on Durga Puja in a saree like a fucking BAWSE. oh, did I mention she's also a cat mom? #goals P.S. she's also a poet, writer, photographer, dancer, singer, swimmer, kickboxer, and hiker. @TED, if you don't call her for a talk, I'll be very disappointed.
